Local Operations

Global Care helps those affected by natural disasters

After the devastation caused by cyclone Debbie, extensive Disaster Relief work was carried out across the Queensland and New South Wales coastal regions Hundreds of volunteers spent several weeks working in the flood-effected areas to clean up properties, feed locals and volunteers, and assist in every way possible.

Global Care understands the immense loss and devastation that people feel following a natural disaster, which is why we help in disaster zones by lending a hand and offering hope. Whether it's providing emergency accommodation, food, furniture and basic hygiene packs; or clearing mud, cleaning walls and removing rubbish; or being a listening ear and offering support, Global Care works to rebuild lives.

Our volunteers receive training and safety briefings, prior to working for Global Care, and undergo the government required checks. They often travel interstate to help in disaster zones, and usually take annual leave from their jobs, to help those affected.

More of our local operations include:

  • Disaster response to the Kilmore Bush Fires in 2014, the NSW Blue Mountains bush fires in 2013 and the Ipswich floods in 2011

  • Low-Cost Grocery Stores that provide inexpensive groceries and resources to families in need

  • School Feeding Programs providing breakfast to children who arrive to school hungry from little or no food at home

  • Meal Programs feeding disabled, elderly or mentally ill people every week

  • Helping Hands programs that offer gardening and domestic help for people who are house-bound, or immobile

  • Mental Health programs that assist clients to reintegrate into the community The heart of Global Care is to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ, to extend mercy to those who need it most, regardless of their age, race, or religion.
